City and Guilds new suite of qualifications for Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance (TAQA) practitioners TAQA (6317)

This new suite of qualifications replaces the A1 and A2 assessor awards and the V1 internal verifier award. They are part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). These practitioner qualifications are designed to support the assessment and quality assurance of the new QCF qualifications. The TAQA qualifications units are listed below.
Each qualification will start with a one day training workshop followed by one-to-one work with your assessor including observations, discussion and gathering workplace evidence.

To book onto this specific training day please complete the application form to book a place. Confirmation of the date and times, venue and an invoice will be sent to you on receipt of application.
Update Training
If you already have an assessor or verifier qualification (A1, V1, D32, D33, D34) you can update this by attending the one day workshop. You will receive a certificate of attendance and a workbook to support a review of best practice in your workplace. Cost: £50 + VAT

- Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment – Cost: £550 +VAT

- Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement - Cost: £750 +VAT
TAQA Verifying Qualifications:
- Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – Cost: £350.00 +VAT
- Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – Cost: £600.00 +VAT
- Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – Cost: £750.00 +VAT
TAQA – assessing qualifications
These three awards and one certificate are the qualifications that replace the A1 and A2 assessor awards that have been required to assess NVQ qualifications.
Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (1 unit, 3 credits)
A knowledge-only Award for those who need to know about assessment but who are not currently practicing e.g. aspiring assessors or quality managers. This award can be achieved by participating in the one day workshop and is assessed by professional discussion with your course tutor. This award has one unit:
Unit 1 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits)
Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (2 units, 9 credits)
For practitioners who assess the achievement of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and RPA. This award can be achieved by attending the one day workshop and is assessed by professional discussion, workplace observation and a portfolio of work product evidence. This Award has 2 units:-
Unit 1 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits)
Unit 2 Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment (6 credits)
Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (2 units, 9 credits)
For practitioners who assess achievement in vocationally-related situations e.g. classrooms or workshops and who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPLA. This award can be achieved by attending the one day workshop and is assessed by professional discussion, workplace observation and a portfolio of workplace evidence. This Award has 2 units:-
Unit 1 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits)
Unit 3: Assessing Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding (6 credits)
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (15 credits)
For practitioners who need to be qualified to use ALL of the above listed assessment methods. This certificate can be achieved by attending the one day workshop and is assessed by professional discussion, workplace observation and a portfolio of workplace evidence. This Certificate contains all three units of the two Awards:-
Unit 1 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits)
Unit 2 Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment (6 credits)
Unit 3 Assessing Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding (6 credits)

Each of the units can be undertaken separately at a cost of £300 +VAT
TAQA Verifying Qualifications
These two awards and one certificate are the qualifications that replace the V1 and verifier awards that have been required to verify NVQ qualifications.
Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (1 unit, 6 credits)
A knowledge-only Award for those who need to know about internal quality assurance but who are not carrying out quality assurance themselves. These may be experienced assessors or centre managers for example. This award can be achieved by participating in the one day workshop and is assessed by professional discussion with your course tutor. This award has one unit:
Unit 4 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment (6 credits)
Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (2 units, 12 credits)
For practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre or organisation, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors. This award can be achieved by attending the one day workshop and is assessed by professional discussion, workplace observation and a portfolio of work product evidence. This award has 2 units:
Unit 4 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment (6 credits)
Unit 5 Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment (6 credits)
Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (3 units, 17 credits)
For practitioners who lead the internal quality assurance process and have a responsibility for managing the quality of the assessment process and practice and the performance of assessors. They may also develop systems and lead on visits from outside agencies such as awarding organisations. This award can be achieved by attending the one day workshop and is assessed by professional discussion, workplace observation and a portfolio of work product evidence. This Certificate has 3 units:
Unit 4 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment (6 credits)
Unit 5 Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment (6 credits)
Unit 8 Plan, Allocate & Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility (5 credits)
